This little girl requested “animals and plants” when I interviewed her about what she wanted in her new room. I decided to do animal-heavy wallpaper in green, to make her feel like she was living in the plants. She chose this fabulous paper, and I pulled the teals, dark greens, gold, yellow, and white from the paper for the rest of the color palette. She got upgraded to a full size bed, and a nightstand was replaced with a desk (a mom request!) Animals feature heavily in the room not only literally, through the cheetah pillows and peacock lamp, but figuratively too, via the leopard-print window treatments and zebra-print rug. Birch-tree bookcases round out the theme, and what kid doesn’t want a swinging chair in a book nook?
