This job started out as just a kitchen remodel (albeit with hopes for a better pantry and laundry room), but thanks to very flexible clients, almost the entire first floor ended up being renovated. We took their existing dining room, swapped it with a room off the kitchen that they rarely used, and turned the old dining room into a huge new pantry and laundry room. The whole first floor got new white oak wide-plank rustic floors, and the kitchen and dining areas got custom cabinetry, a custom bar, a huge island, a banquet area for lounging, and new ceiling beams!
Ridgefield Bath-Laundry Combo Split
This house had one bathroom on the first floor that everyone used, and besides being outdated (and leaking!) it shared one wall with a laundry room, ensuring a tight fit for both spaces and not enough storage for either! We split the room into two, taking down a few walls and rebuilding others. In order to get the client’s wish list for the laundry room (a bigger closet, closed storage, a spot to put laundry baskets, and a work counter), we stacked the laundry machines. To give some color and not take laundry day too seriously, we did blue cabinetry and a fun dog wallpaper! For the bathroom, we ended up with a bright but calming and organic aesthetic full of soft whites, terra cotta, teak, brass, copper, limewash-textured walls, and plants! A few extra inches at the end of the tub gave space for some live-edge shelves. You can never have too much storage!
